In June of 2015, IUP faculty and students led by Dr. John Bradshaw (Physics) began air quality measurements in the vicinity of four fracking pads around Beaver Run Reservoir. Additionally, they monitor air quality near the natural gas compressor station.
The results of the field measurements are analyzed at IUP for methane concentration and EPA-regulated compressor gases. The results are reported quarterly to MAWC managers and presented annually at the MAWC Source Water Protection (SWP) meeting, usually held in July or August.
